「EIGHTY EIGHT（エイティエイト）」は、奈良醸造にとって今年もこの季節がきた！と感じるビールのひとつ。「夏も近づく八十八夜～」とは毎年５月頃に行われる茶摘みの歌ですが、そんな摘みたての一番茶だけを使ったビールができました。そんな貴重な初摘みの一番茶は、2024年もティーファーム井ノ倉より提供いただいています。

ベースとなるビアスタイルはセゾン。このスタイルのビールは、もともとベルギーで夏の農作業中に喉の渇きを癒すために造られたといわれています。そんなセゾンに、抹茶の原料である“碾茶（てんちゃ）”の茶葉を贅沢に漬け込みました。見た目はお茶由来の薄濁り、香りはセゾン酵母由来のフルーティさが感じられます。

ドライな飲み口の中に、旨味を伴ったほのかなお茶の風味が感じられ、爽やかな余韻として残ります。またホップとは違ったお茶由来の苦味が重なることで、セゾンの味わいにさらに奥行きが加わりました。少し温度を上げてから飲むと、よりお茶の輪郭がくっきりと感じられるようになってきます。

This is a collaboration beer with "Tea Farm Inokura" located in Tsukigase, Nara City, a renowned tea-growing region. This beer is infused with very rare first-harvest green tea leaves.

This beer style is Saison. Originally brewed in Belgium to quench the thirst of farmers during the summer, this Saison is infused with tencha tea leaves, the raw material for matcha. The appearance is slightly hazy due to the tea, and the aroma carries the fruity notes characteristic of Saison yeast.

The beer has a dry finish with a subtle umami flavor from the tea, leaving a refreshing aftertaste. The bitterness from the tea adds depth to the Saison's flavor, creating a more complex profile. When the beer is served at a slightly higher temperature, the tea's character becomes more pronounced.
