MacGuffin（マクガフィン）とは物語をすすめるキーアイテムやキーパーソンのこと。映画や小説において中身はなにかわからない、誰も知らない、でも重要なもののことだと言われています。このビールも、奈良醸造にとってのMacGuffin。「誰も知らない、でも奈良醸造を先に進めるビール」になることを願って名づけました。

今回のMacGuffinはカクテルからインスピレーションを受け、イングリッシュブラウンエールをベースに脱脂粉乳、バニラ、アニス、カカオを使用しました。麦芽、ホップ、酵母の組み合わせだけでは表現ができない味わいに仕上がっています。

まず最初に感じられるのは、カカオとバニラが織りなすミルクチョコレートの甘い香り。口に含むと、アニス由来の清々しい風味が、カカオの味わいに奥行きをもたらすとともに、脱脂粉乳由来のミルク感が優しく甘さを包み込んでくれます。どんなカクテルからインスピレーションを受けたのか、よければ皆さんも飲んで考えてみてください。

缶は窒素充填のナイトロ缶ビール仕様。窒素ガス充填を行うことでクリーミーな口当たりが強調され、より甘みを強く感じられる仕上がりになっています。一方、樽は炭酸ガスで仕上げており、この２つは同じビールのはずが全く別のビールになっています。ぜひ、缶と樽生をどちらも飲んで比べてみてください。

MacGuffin is a term used to describe a key item or key person that drives the story forward. In films and novels, it refers to something important, yet unknown to everyone. This beer is also Nara Brewing's MacGuffin – a beer that is essential for Nara Brewery's progress. We named it with the hope of becoming a beer that moves Nara Brewing forward. For this MacGuffin, we drew inspiration from cocktails and crafted an English Brown Ale base, infused with skim milk, vanilla, anise, and cocoa. It resulted in a flavor that couldn't be fully expressed by malt, hops, and yeast alone. At first sip, you'll be greeted by the sweet aroma of milk chocolate, woven by cocoa and vanilla. As it caresses your palate, the refreshing notes of anise add depth to the cocoa flavor, while the milkiness from skim milk gently envelops the sweetness.
